AWARD WINNING DOCUMENTARY & EDITORIAL ARIZONA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER.

Hello, and welcome!

My name’s Gillian, and I’m addicted to vintage furniture shopping on Facebook Marketplace. I rely heavily on spell-check, but will probably correct your grammar in my head, and sometimes out loud (if we’re close like that).

My Spotify playlists are freaky organized for extremely niche genres, and I have food recs that could last you a lifetime. I’m anti-ai, unless I feel like it I really really need it to see what my theoretical love child with miles teller would look like, but draw a hard line when it comes to using it in my work.

In all seriousness, I’m not just documenting what’s happening, I’m paying attention to what’s about to. My approach is based in documentary intuition, shaped by editorial taste, and driven by a constant awareness of energy and timing. In other words, I’m always reading the room, and deciding in real time when to step in and when to disappear so nothing meaningful slips by, and nothing ever feels forced (because yuck, that’s the worst).

BRINGING THE VIBE TO THE FUNCTION (& also an eye for the details)

I’m not just documenting what’s happening, I’m paying attention to what’s about to. My approach is grounded in documentary intuition, shaped by editorial taste, and driven by a constant awareness of people, energy, and timing. I’m always reading the room, anticipating the shift before it happens, and deciding in real time when to step in and when to disappear so nothing meaningful slips by and nothing ever feels forced.

Black and white photo of a wedding party. The groom, dressed in a tuxedo with a boutonnière, is surprised with his mouth open. Two women, one holding a camera and another whispering into her ear, are on the left. The woman on the right, with her back to the camera, is wearing a sleeveless dress with cut-out details and a tattoo on her shoulder. Another person with a headset and a cap is on the far right, partially visible.

THE VALUE OF AN ARTIST WHO SEES THE BIGGER PICTURE

(because it's always been more than just a job to me).

To my future couples,

Before you hire me, there's something I hope you know.

In 2015, I accepted the fourth of five spots in a photojournalism program in Fresno, California (shoutout), and I honestly haven't put my camera down since. From the basketball court, to advertising campaigns, and rooms I never imagined I'd be invited into… I learned to anticipate moments before they happened, and adapt to any lighting situation. To get the shot, yes, but never at the expense of someone's lived experience!

Weddings require all of those technical skills, but they ask for something more! Wholehearted investment. A posture of readiness.

Inviting God into my work has changed the way I see people. He reminds me that no one is defined by their insecurities, their perceived “awkwardness,” or the story they tell themselves when a camera comes out. He sees them with grace, purpose, dignity, and delight.

That's why this work means so much to me.

You're not simply hiring someone to take beautiful photographs, or recreate whatever cool work they've already put on their portfolio. You're trusting someone to notice you for you, even better than you imagined. To recognize the people who matter most. To protect the experience while preserving it. To handle your story with the same care and sincerity that you do.

My hope is that years from now, when you look back through your gallery, you'll feel like someone truly saw you, and cheered you on, and represented you well!

Sincerely,

gillian rea

(for the incurably curious; my kinda’ people)

  • I notice everything! It’s both helpful and a little insane.

  • You can catch me on the weekends line dancing - like, cowboy boots and all.

  • I have my Bachelor’s degree in advertising, graphic design, public relations, with a minor in communications
(I care about how things are feel in the process of creation, not just how they turn out).

  • I genuinely love my people. Not in a vague way, but in a ‘your friends will probably also become mine by the end of the night’ kind of way.

  • I’m currently planning a wedding myself (October 2026 brides, I see you, I am you). I understand this process now on a completely different level. I never thought I could be more excited for my couples, and yet, here we are.

Maybe you're a little nosy about my vibe?

(it's okay, I would be too.)

FOR THE COUPLE THAT DOESN’T WANT A “WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER”.

Outside of weddings, I’m still shooting; evolving my taste and artistic judgement! Concerts, fashion, and branding sessions regularly give me an endless spectrum of subjects that keep me on my toes. Each of these spaces keeps my skills sharp in a different way.

I've always been drawn to the moment captured and the story itself. People being themselves. Things happening fast. Capturing the most flattering shapes in the most interesting way.
